Brewster Manufacturing Co. gilded scroll-front, 1852-1854.  A 17-inch black wooden case with gilding, mother of pearl decorations and painted flowers around the scrolled borders, as well as the door frame.  The gilding is worn and darkened as are the flowers; there is no missing MOP.  Both glasses are period/original, with an excellent tablet with little wear.  This is a typical Brewster tablet and one of the best I have seen.  The metal dial holds the original paint with some fill-ins; it is signed but the signature is faded.  The hands are likely original.  The ribbed 8-day, time-and-strike brass movement is signed “Brewster & Ingrahams” and is running strongly, striking on a wire gong.  There is a dark and tattered label inside, largely hidden by the gong mount.  This clock was made after Brewster & Ingrahams broke up in a dispute over exporting clocks to England, and Brewster continued as the BMC.  AAC sold  one in January of 2025 for $350, and one in 2024 for $454.  $250–$400.
