E.O. Goodwin miniature empire shelf clock, 1851-1855. The
case is by Goodwin and the movement by Brewster & Ingrahams. The 20.5-inch case has mahogany veneer with figured mahogany
on the columns and corbels. The veneer on the baseplate on the right and left sides has been replaced, not quite a perfect match. The three glasses are period/original, with losses to the middle and lower tablets. The contoured metal dial holds old paint,
with noticeable touch-up, and bears the Goodwin name; the hands are period/proper, with a repaired minute hand. The ribbed
brass movement is signed Brewster & Ingrahams; it is running and striking on a wire gong without issue. There is an old
pendulum bob and a very toned label inside. AAC has sold several similar examples for $325 and $350. $200–$400.
