Unknown maker REPRODUCTION Acorn clock, ca.
1980? A 26-inch laminated walnut case that replicates JC Brown’s famous acorn clock of the mid-1800’s. The case is well
made, the glasses modern with a well-done unsigned tablet of the Merchant’s Bank, an image commonly found on the original models. The base is veneered and peeling. The dial is aluminum and the painted dial lining is a bit weak. The 8-day time-and-strike
brass remote fusee movement appears to be an original movement used in these clocks but is unsigned. It is running and striking
on the wire gong. There is no label and no indication of the maker on the case. That’s a shame. The average price
of an original acorn sold by AAC is $4600; AAC sold a nice reproduction in 2023 for $507. $395–$500.
