Donald A. Doyle REPRODUCTION Acorn Clock, 2005. Don Doyle was a skilled woodworker in Sterling Heights, MI (north of Detroit) who made nine outstanding reproductions of J.C. Brown’s acorn clock.  The 25-inch case is made of nine layers of laminated Brazilian rosewood, maple, and mahogany, replicating Brown’s original cases; the lower glass has a Moberg replica of the Merchant’s Exchange bank in Philadelphia, as found on most original Brown acorns.  The 8-day time-and-strike lyre-movement is a refurbished original, here signed by W.S. Johnson, New York, and used in Forestville Mfg Co and JC Brown clocks.  Doyle manufactured the remote fusee in the bottom of the case.  The clock is running but the strike does not shut off – a minor adjustment is needed.  There is a photocopy of an original Brown acorn label, and a gold plaque at the bottom noting the maker and year.  The original signed certificate of sale and a reprint of a 2006 NAWCCBulletin article on these clocks made by Doyle are included, and the clock comes packed in a wooden box, ready for delivery or shipping. A matching shelf, ready for wall mounting, is also included.  Probably the best reproduction acorn you can find.  There are no sales records; Doyle died in 2024.  $500–$1500.
