Mark Zerfing acorn
REPRODUCTION, 1971. A 26-inch laminate case with rosewood veneer, old glass puttied into the dial and modern glass with a great
reverse painting of J.C. Brown’s house in Bristol, CT. The tablet is backed with cardboard. The half-round door frame
is also veneered in rosewood, the base appears to be walnut; the acorn sidearms are a bit oversized relative to the original Brown
acorn clocks. The aluminum dial resembles the originals, the hands are not period. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement
was made by the E. Ingraham Co. and is running and striking on the nickel bell. There is a label inside with the maker, year,
and issue number (1). Looks good, and a LOT cheaper than an original! One sale on LiveAuctioneers, for $200 at Alex Cooper
in 2016. $250–$500.
