11.                   $200

Mark Leavenworth pillar & scroll, 1820-1824. An early pillar & scroll from Leavenworth before he added his son Benjamin to the partnership (1824, Mark Leavenworth & Son) and later his son-in-law Green Kendrick (1829, Mark Leavenworth & Co.).  The 31-inch case (with the brass urn finials on steel posts) has an old finish with some patina.  A couple of well-done repairs to the veneer on the door’s lower section, repairs to both scroll tips, and a repair to each outer section of the skirt.  The feet look original. The dial glass is old but not period, with newer putty, the lower glass is old but the putty is again newer.  The tablet has losses but is not intolerable.  The wooden dial is clean but faded, with American shields in each spandrel; the hands are appropriate. The wooden 30-hour time-and-strike movement is running without difficulty but the strike is hung up.  There are two period weights, an old pendulum bob, and a brittle paper label that remains readable.  Crank and door key included.  AAC sold two pillar & scroll clocks by Mr. Leavenworth last year for $588 and $250.  $200–$400.
