10.                   $175

Chauncey Ives pillar & scroll, 1824-1830.  A second example by Mr. Ives, this one in a bit rougher shape.  The 31-inch case (with the center finial) has an old finish with both scroll tips repaired, one noticeable from the front.  The right front foot has been reglued, not quite perfectly.  The brass urn finials are on steel posts.  Both glasses are original, with considerable losses to the tablet.  The wood dial is clean with lots of gilded gesso decorations; the hands are period and correct. The 30-hour time-and-strike wooden movement will run briefly and will strike; it has been repaired with plastic bushings.  There are two period weights and a period embossed brass pendulum bob, and a readable label with an overpaste.  $175–$300.
