Mark Leavenworth pillar & scroll, 1820-1824. An early pillar & scroll from Mr. Leavenworth.  The 30-inch case (with brass urn finials on screws) has the original scroll-top, with repaired tips, the original skirt, with a missing tip on the left, and four replaced feet.  The veneer is good, with a clean finish.  Both glasses are original with the original putty, the dial glass is badly bowed, the tablet all but lost from the lower glass.  The wooden dial is soiled but colorful, with a centerpiece decoration and two proper, period hands.  The wood 30-hour, time-and-strike movement is not willing to run or strike, but it does appear to have been cleaned.  There is no pendulum rod so it couldn’t be properly tested (nor are there weights – weights can be purchased in Parts).  There is a pendulum bob and a good label on the backwall.  Early Leavenworth clocks are not common – AAC sold one last January for $588.  $100–$300.

The width of the front plate of the movement is 6.5 inches.
