Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 10 Early Farmers”, ca. 1868.  This is a very early edition of the Farmers model as evidenced by the Pomeroy movement, the upside-down umbrella pendulum bob opening in the calendar dial, and the lack of a date inside, with only an inventory number (229).  In addition, there is a date on the inside backboard of Jan 1870, possibly the first owner.  The 21.25-inch walnut case has an old, clean finish; the glasses are period, possibly original.  The paper dials over zinc plates are very likely original, with wear, soiling, and varnish on the calendar dial.  The hands are acceptable replacements, with a proper calendar hand.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement was made and signed by Noah Pomeroy; it is running and striking as expected on a wire gong, and the calendars are advancing, with newer roller papers.   There are very dark partial labels on the back.  AAC has sold one other early Farmers model, last year, for $275.  $200–$350.
