Waterbury Clock Co. “Calendar No. 42”, ca. 1891. A
small shelf calendar, just 24 inches tall in a refinished walnut case. The crest is a modern replacement; all the ornaments
and carvings are present and complete. The dial glasses are likely original, the painted metal dials hold old paint with light
wear and touch-up to the calendar dial around the screw mounts. The hands are as shown in the catalog illustration (Ly, Waterbury
Clocks & Watches, page 104). Note that the calendar dial has the name, patent date, and logo. The unsigned 8-day, time
and half-hour strike movement is running and striking on the cathedral gong and the calendar hand and weekday roller are advancing. The roller papers are darkened. No label. Not a very common model; AAC sold one a year ago for $226. $200–$300.
