Brewster & Ingrahams four post steeple,
1843-1852. A 19-inch case with burl mahogany veneer on the front and mahogany veneer on the sides; there are four side
columns and four finned finials, all of which look original with some slight damage to some of the finial rings. The finish
is clean and polished. The dial glass is period with old but not necessarily original putty, the lower milk stencil glass
is typical and likely original, with noticeable losses. The dial holds old paint and the retailer’s name at the top. The
hands are probably original. The 8-day time-and-strike movement has 1-inch brass springs and is signed. It is running
and striking. There is a label listing the retailer, J.J. Beals & Co. in Boston. AAC has sold three
of this model for an average of $396. $300–$450.
