Forestville Manufacturing Co. ripple-front gothic (steeple), 1842-1849.  A beautiful 18.5-inch rosewood case with a clean finish and an unusual ripple pattern.  Both glasses are likely original, with a typical cut-glass tablet.  The dial holds old paint with a JC Brown signature below the mainstem; there is varnish discoloration along the edges.  The hands are correct and period/original.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed Forestville M.F.G., Bristol.  It is running and striking on a wire gong without issue.  There is a good label for Forestville Mfg Co./J.C. Brown inside.  The average sale price for this model on AAC is $607, with seven sales.  $500–$700.
