E.C. Brewster round gothic with remote fusees,ca. 1836. A rare and early brass spring movement. The 19-inch case with mahogany veneer has an old finish with
a light patina; I see no repairs or missing segments. The dial glass is old but has newer putty, the cut and frosted glass tablet
is likely original. The flat, round wooden dial has extensive gilding and is reasonably clean, the hands are likely original. There
is a small round glass that sits behind the dial over the mainstem, presumably to keep the dust out; it may not be original to the
clock, and I have not seen this before. The 8-day, time-and-strike, brass, remote double-fusee movement with a rack and snail
repeating strike is running and striking; it is not signed but is numbered 4258. It mounts on top of the cast iron wire
gong mount. There is no label but green paper on the back wall. AAC sold one in 2024 for $600. $500–$650.
