Norris North pillar
& scroll, 1825-1831. A 29.5-inch case with the brass center finial. The finish is clean and polished with
no evident repairs to the mahogany veneer. The scroll top, feet, and skirt all look original, with no damage. The brass
urn finials are on wooden posts; note that the center finial is larger than the side finials. The glasses are old but perhaps
not 1825 old, with old putty; the tablet was repainted in the door. The wooden dial was made for a Torrington movement and is
clean and colorful, but with some fading; the hands are period and proper. The wooden 30-hour time-and-strike Torrington movement
is running without issue, striking on the iron bell. The hands shaft has a brass fitting to replace worn wood fittings. There are two 3-lb square lead weights and an old pendulum bob, with a dark label inside. AAC sold a similar example
last summer for $507. $350–$600.
