Hopkins & Alfred
pillar & scroll, 1831-1839. This clock has had some restoration – I think the finish was stripped and the case restained
and varnished. The scroll top may be a replacement, as may be the skirt; the brass urn finials are tarnished and are on screws. The feet look original. Both glasses are modern, with an attractive tablet. The wooden dial is clean but the gilded trim
has been touched up; the hands are appropriate. The wooden 30-hour time-and-strike movement is running strongly and striking
an iron bell, driven by period weights and a modern pendulum bob. There is a good label inside. $200–$400.
