248. $100
Gustav Becker two-weight Vienna, ca. 1910. An impressive
52-inch case with carved side columns, finials, and a modern crest; the finials may be reproductions as well. The glasses are
old, the interior veneer on the backboard is lifting. The porcelain dial is flawless with fancy hands and a seconds bit. The 8-day time and half-hour strike movement is signed and will run, but the verge is loose and gets out of beat after a short while. That shouldn’t be a difficult fix but may require a soldering iron. There are two brass shell weights and a hollow pendulum
bob. $100–$250.
