French wooden shelf clock, ca. 1900.  A 15.5-inch mahogany case with simple fretwork on top and at the bottom.  The front of the case is elaborately carved but there is a horizontal break at the bottom of the dial.  The dial glass is beveled and flat, the two-part dial is porcelain with a gilt center ring and substitute hands.  The retailer’s name, J Faiers, is shown above the mainstem.  The movement is not signed or marked; it is running but not striking.  The backboard is lost.  $25–$100.
