154. $1500
Jerome & Co. “Rokeby” double-dial wall calendar, ca. 1886. A 63-inch
refinished walnut case with a professionally made replacement crest, top finial, base, and drop finials. The door glass is modern;
the dials are paper, likely original, with their age showing. The time hands are proper replacements, the weekday hand looks
original, the calendar hands are likely original. The 8-day time-and-strike brass, spring-driven movement is unsigned; it is
running strongly and striking on a nickel bell with a nice sound. The calendar hands are advancing as expected. The wooden
pendulum stick and bob are likely original, with minor repair to the pendulum rod. There is no label. This clock is shown
on page 70 of Ly’s New Haven Clocks & Watches. This clock last sold at Cottone Auctions in 2024 for $2000 (it was owned
by the late Bill DeVore); it is the only sale I can find for this model on LiveAuctioneers or the Antique Clocks Identification and
Price Guide. One of two very rare Jerome calendar clocks in this sale. $1500–$2000.
