Ansonia Clock Co. “El Pan”, ca. 1901.  A 14-inch Belgian slate case with a clean finish and good gilding in the incisings on the front of the case; it is as shown in the catalog illustration on page 314 of Ly’s book on Ansonia clocks.  Note the brass columns on each side.  The dial glass is flat and beveled in a bright bezel, the porcelain dial has the Ansonia logo in the center and is signed at the bottom, with no significant cracks or hairlines. The hands are correct and there is a visible escapement with one ruby and one steel pallet.  The 8-day, time-and-strike Ansonia movement is running and striking on a cathedral gong.  No label and no key.  $50–$150.
