E. Ingraham & Co. “Grecian Mosaic”, ca. 1869. The Grecian
is a popular clock, but this version is seldom seen. The 15-inch case is probably walnut, but most of the front is decorated
with finely detailed light and dark wood marquetry. Unfortunately, the finish is quite dark and rough, and the case has had
a hard life. Nonetheless the alternating light and dark banding, including on the bezel and rosettes, is still evident. The dial glass is original, the dial is paper, very old and yellowed, the hands are of the right style but replacements, with a slightly
short minute hand. The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed and running, striking on a wire gong. There are remnants
of a green label inside. I have seen this version before, but only rarely, and have not had one to offer. $100–$200.
