Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Utica”, 1887.  A City Series clock, the Utica is 22.25 inches tall in walnut with an old, patinated finish.  The intricate crest is complete and the urn finials are correct.  The door glass is old, the gold stencil has light wear and the door opens with a push-button on the side.  The dial holds the original paint with light soiling and noticeable flaking.  The hands are correct.  The 8-day, time-and-strike ST lyre movement is running unenthusiastically and striking reluctantly on a cathedral gong; cleaning is likely needed.  There is a damascened pendulum bob.  There is an illegible black label on the inside bottom and a date on the back of the case.  AAC sold a Utica in last January for $250; Fontaine’s sold one in April for $300.  $200-$400.
