103.           $200

Seth Thomas “Utica”, ca. 1886.  A ‘city series’ clock, meaning well-made and attractive cases and reliable, heavy-duty movements.  The Utica is 22.25 inches tall in walnut with a clean, older finish.  The carvings at the top are notable, as are the side arms; the urns, which often are missing, are present, but one small piece of trim at the top is missing – you’ll have to find it yourself.  The door glass is old, the silver stencil has little wear; the door opens with a push-button on the side.  The dial holds the original paint with considerable touch-up and is a good candidate for repainting.  The hands are correct.  The 8-day, time-and-strike ST lyre movement is running and striking on a cathedral gong and there is a damascened pendulum bob.  There is an illegible black label on the inside bottom, no date on the back of the case.  AAC sold a Utica in 2022 for $445; the most recent sale on LiveAuctioneers was in 2020 at Fontaine’s for $350.  $200-$400.

Can I return my clock if I don’t like it?

You betcha!  Save your packing and box, you have 30 days from receipt to return it for a full refund if you are unhappy.  If the clock is not as described, or I missed something important and that is not evident from the pictures, I will refund your shipping costs (both ways) as well.  Find another auction company that does that!
