Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Buffalo”, 1884.  The Seth Thomas City Series clocks have all gone into hiding, but this one, and the following Utica, have escaped.  The Buffalo is 20.25 inches tall in walnut with a beautiful finish and brass pillars along the crest.  The door glass is likely original with the proper leaf stencil; the signed dial has been repainted by The Dial House, the hands are ST issue.  The 8-day time-and-strike ST movement is clean and running, striking on a cathedral gong.  The nickel pendulum bob is damascened and polished.  There is a black label inside and a date of 1884 stamped on the back.  Nothing not to like, and no recent sales.  $225–$400.
