Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Lincoln”, ca. 1896.  The 28-inch case was ebonized (a chemical process) or lacquered in black at the factory; I favor the latter explanation, as it is easier achieve.   The finish is old but clean and unmarred; the door glass is old and looks original.  The dial is glossy paper with some staining/foxing, and should be painted (it was originally); the hands are ST issue and proper.  The trapezoidal Seth Thomas movement is signed and running and striking on a cathedral gong.  There is a proper pendulum stick and a damascened brass bob, along with proper Seth Thomas brass weights.  A corroded beat scale on the back wall, no label or date on the back. Ebony Lincolns are uncommon.  $500–$750.
