Welch, Spring & Co. “Nilsson”, ca. 1885. A 22-inch polished walnut case with two side glasses and an 8-day, time-and-strike Patti movement. All the trim pieces and ornamental
balls are present and look original. The glasses are old with the proper gilt pattern on the front glass; the painted dial shows
some fading of the numerals, the hands are proper. The 8-day, time-and-strike fine Patti movement is running and striking
on a cathedral gong, regulated by a Welch sandwich-glass pendulum. The interior is covered in black flocking and there
is a good label behind plastic on the back. This is one of the hardest Patti models to find; no sales on LiveAuctioneers and
two older sales on the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide, most recently at R.O. Schmitt in 2016 for $1700. This
is the first Nilsson I have had, and it is a nice one. $500–$1000.
