Forestville Mfg Co. column & cornice triple decker, 1835-1839.  A showpiece triple decker from JC Brown’s company. Perfect veneer and finish on this 31.5-inch case with two new tablets on new glass and one old but replaced dial glass.  The upper tablet depicts the JC Brown residence in Bristol, CT; you can still see it there if you visit the American Clock & Watch Museum across the street (which you should). The lower tablet depicts the United States Hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY, a hot springs resort built in 1824.  The wooden dial is soiled and worn but bears the Forestville Mfg. imprint and proper period hands.  The movement is signed and running, striking on the wire gong, driven by two old 8-day weights; there is an excellent label inside that features the Forestville manufactory with people in the foreground and people in the rooftop observatory.  A great example.  $150-$300.
