Riley Whiting
carved column & splat shelf clock, 1828-1835. A 33.5-inch case with dark mahogany veneer and an old, patinated finish. The carved half-columns and splat are well done; the dial glass is old but probably a replacement (newer putty), the mirror also likely
a replacement with newer putty. The gilded wooden dial is lightly soiled, the hands are period correct. The 30-hour wooden
movement was made by Riley Whiting and will run for a while, and strikes loudly on the iron bell. There are two period weights
and a good label inside. A key for the door, an older bob, and a winding crank included, with new tin dust covers on the back. I think this clock had feet at one time. $100–$200.
