E. & G.W.
Bartholomew transitional column & splat, 1829-1833. A second example, this one with restoration. The 29-inch case
has good veneer with an old finish and patina. The half-columns have been repainted, as has the splat, and simple bronze patterns
sprayed on. The pineapple finials and feet, front and back, are likely modern replacements. Both glasses are modern replacements,
with a newly painted tablet. The wooden dial is faded and soiled, the hands are modern replacements. The 30-hour wooden
time-and-strike movement is running and striking reliably, with two old weights and an old pendulum bob. There is a good label
on the backwall. $150–$300.
