13.                   $100

Mark Leavenworth & Son pillar & scroll, 1825-1829.  A second example, this one with considerable restoration, and more to go. The 30.5-inch case has good, polished veneer on the front; I think the scroll-top is original (or a very old replacement) but one tip has been repaired.  The corner chimneys are replacements, as are the caps.  The brass urn finials are on steel posts and are from Merritt’s.  I’m almost certain the skirt is a modern replacement and I think the feet are as well.  Both glasses are period but the putty has been replaced up top and the lower glass is held in place with wooden strips.  The original tablet border is mostly lost but the center image is largely retained; the glass is cracked at the top center.  The wooden dial board is clean with good gilding and a floral decoration around the mainstem.  The hands are proper modern replacements.  The 30-hour time-and-strike wood movement is running and striking, but the bell is missing.  There are two period weights, a period pendulum bob, and a decent label.  Good clock for the price.  $100–$200.
