French? Open well wall clock, ca. 1900. There are no maker’s marks
on this small (28.5-inch) wall clock, but it looks French to me, particularly in the unsigned movement. The case is oak with
an old finish; the glasses are old and there are small brass ornaments scattered about. The silvered chapter ring on the 6-inch
brass dial is discolored, the hands are appropriate. The 8-day, time-and-strike pinned movement is unsigned, bearing only a
serial number (589) with a count-wheel strike mechanism. It is running and striking although the strike hammer will need adjustment. $50–$150.
