264.          $50

French? Open well wall clock, ca. 1900.  There are no maker’s marks on this small (28.5-inch) wall clock, but it looks French to me, particularly in the unsigned movement.  The case is oak with an old finish; the glasses are old and there are small brass ornaments scattered about.  The silvered chapter ring on the 6-inch brass dial is discolored, the hands are appropriate.  The 8-day, time-and-strike pinned movement is unsigned, bearing only a serial number (589) with a count-wheel strike mechanism.  It is running and striking although the strike hammer will need adjustment. $50–$150.
