237.         $100

Brewster & Ingrahams small gallery timepiece, 1845-1850.  A 13.5-inch walnut or mahogany case with an old finish and a convex glass over a 9-inch convex wooden dial, signed by the retailer, J.J. Beals & Co. in Boston.  The hands are not original.  The B&I east-west movement is signed and running to beat the band, with the pendulum suspended from the back of the case.  Note the attractive and bright labeling for the retailer inside. These clocks came in a variety of sizes, some with flat glasses.  $100–$200.
