226.         $100

Chauncey Goodrich “Octagon Drop”, ca. 1854.  A 24-inch case with good burl mahogany on the front.  Both glasses are original, with a well-preserved tablet in the pendulum door.  Note the carved “ears”.  The painted dial likely holds the original paint, in good condition, and the hands are likely original.  The 8-day time-and-strike movement is unsigned; it is running and striking on a wire gong.  There is a green label inside dated to 1854. $100–$200.

Thanks to Colleen Houtz for catching my misattribution of this clock to Chauncey Jerome.
