Chauncey Jerome square keyhole, ca. 1850. This is the only example
I can find of this model, which sold at Skinner’s in 2009 for $950. The 18.5-inch pine case was probably grain-painted to resemble
rosewood, and the bezels still retain some grain painting under a dark finish. The dial bezel flips up to access the dial. Both glasses are likely original and retain their gilding and black backing; the paint on the metal dial looks original, as do the
hands. The 30-hour time-only movement is unsigned; it is running nicely. There is a good label inside. A rare model. $200–$500.
