Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co. “Newport”, ca. 1901.  An uncommon model. The 35-inch refinished oak case is missing two small trim pieces that should be on each side of the base, although I see no indication on the case that they were ever there.  The door glass is old, the yellowed paper dial unsigned, the hands as shown in the catalog illustration (Ly, Gilbert Clocks, page 146).  The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed and running, striking on a Geo. B. Owen cathedral gong.  The pendulum stick and bob are correct and there is a good label on the back.  Most recentsale was in 2021 at Fontaine’s for $350.  $250–$350.
