217.         $250

Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co. “Circle Drop”, ca. 1900.  An uncommon model. The 32-inch walnut case has been overcoated and is a bit glossy but looks good.  The dial glass is a twentieth century replacement, the lower door glass original, with some wear to the outward-facing silver stencil.  The glossy paper dial is a signed replacement, the hands are correct for this model (Ly, Gilbert Clocks, page 140).  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed and will run, striking on a wire gong, but the movement is oily and needs to be cleaned.  A typical Gilbert pendulum and a partial label on the back.  No recent sales.  $250–$500.
