215.         $250

Forestville Manufacturing Co. picture frame clock, 1842-1849.  A papier-mâché-mother-of-pearl case, 17.5 inches tall by 12.5 inches wide with bright gold designs and floral decorations on the picture frame surround and the door frame, with no missing MOP.  The painted decorations are still quite visible, and the finish overall is good, with some crinkling.  Both glasses are old and likely original; with a bright blue background and a gilt eagle and shield in the middle of the lower glass.  The painted metal dial is original and retains a JC Brown signature, with proper period hands.   The movement is die-stamped JC Brown, Forestville CT; I can’t get it to run for more than a few beats.  There is a dark green label on the back interior.  This clock also works as a shelf clock.   $250-$500.
