207. $500
Geo. A. Jones & Co. “Fritz”, 1864-1873. Jones had a fondness for
gothic design and you see it in several of his clocks; AAC sold a similar example a year ago. This 48-inch walnut case has an
old, patinated finish; the trim pieces are all in place, and the finials look original. Both glasses are period but the putty
around the dial glass has been replaced. The painted dial holds old paint and is clean, with good numbering. The hands
match those found on one other example, sold at RO Schmitt in 2006 for $1000. The 8-day, time-only, spring-driven movement is
unmarked, with a fancy R/A-style pendulum. It is not running and will need service. There is a label inside, visible through
the pendulum door. One of two examples, it would appear, and certainly a looker. $500–$1000.
