Ansonia Clock Co. “Banjo No. 3”, ca. 1924.  Ansonia made three banjo models that used this “beveled chipped glass” in the throat and lower door; this is the only model with Westminster chimes on the quarter-hours, played on “Melodious True-toned Rods” – and they sound great!  It counts the hours on a fifth rod.  The 40-inch solid mahogany case has been refinished and the dial resilvered.  The hands are not as shown in the catalog illustration but are identical to the hands found on other examples.   The glasses are flawless; the dial glass is convex, the eagle on top and brass sidearms are original. The clock is running, chiming, and striking.  The Ansonia catalog description is found on page 62 of Ly’s Ansonia Clocks & Watches.  AAC sold this clock in 2022 for $3260, before it had been refinished; the refinished case and dial look great.  Schmitt’s sold one in 2017 for $2400. $2400-$3000.
