194.           $400

Wm L Gilbert Clock Co. “Regulator No. 10”, ca. 1901.  This model has two different types of crests – this is the less common style, with fans at the corners.  This likely represents a change in design over the years.  Indeed, the catalog description in Ly, Gilbert Clocks (page 135) says this model only came in oak and was 53 inches long; this case is clearly walnut and is 52 inches long.  It has been refinished; note the burled walnut inset on the back wall and base.  The door glass is modern but the side glasses are original. The dial is an older repaint; the hands are proper but the seconds hand appears to be a replacement.  The 8-day weight-driven, time-only movement is unsigned and running steadily.  The pendulum and large nickel weight appear to be original and proper.  There is no label, inside or on back.  This model is less common than the No. 11, which looks very similar (see #195).  AAC sold a walnut No. 10 in 2024 for $500.  $400–$600.
