187.           $2000

E. Howard & Co. “No. 11 Regulator”, ca. 1874.  A 31-inch cherry case with rosewood graining under a dark and possibly original finish.  The dial glass is modern, the lower glass and tablet original.  The dial is likely original with the original paint and signature, craquelure, fading, and light soiling; the hands are as well.  The 8-day time-only movement is signed and running without a hitch, regulated by a Howard pendulum and bob and driven by a proper weight.  There is a tie-down and a label on the back of the door, as well as inside on the left.   Note that ‘11’ is stamped into the bottom edge of the case, the lower door, and the upper hinge.  The bottom of the case was broken out (of course) and reglued into place and is barely noticeable.  AAC sold a similar example in 2024 for $2500.  $2000–$4000.
