180.           $1200

Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 2½ Brisbane”, 1884.  This is an uncommon model.  It is the largest spring-driven model made by ICCC, 42 inches long and 15.5 inches wide.  The case is walnut with an old, patinated finish consistent with its age; one little half-circle decoration on the bottom right is missing (now you’re wishing I hadn’t pointed that out).   The rest of the fretwork is intact and original.  The door glass is old and wavy, the paper-over-metal dials are old and worn and ready for replacement, the hands likely original.  The wooden pendulum is the earlier style consistent with the early date of manufacture.  The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed by Welch with the notation that it was made for the ICCC.  I can’t convince it to run, probably because it has not been run for 20 years and the spring is tightly wound.  I can get it to run with finger pressure, and it will strike; the calendar weekday roller and date hand will advance.  There are several recent service and ownership notations inside, including a jeweler’s stamp from Topeka KS.  No label.  AAC sold a similar example in 2022 for $2278, while Fontaine’s sold a walnut example that year for $1500.  $1200-$1600.
