Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Wales”, ca. 1904. An uncommon model,
10.5 inches tall in mahogany with a light original finish and very slight craquelure. This clock is listed under “City Series”
in Ly’s books on Seth Thomas clocks, although it resembles an English bracket clock and closely resembles the Turin model, which shares
the round 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement and is listed under “Cabinet Clocks”. (Seth Thomas did not designate any
clocks as “City Series” but did name a number of shelf models after American cities, which collectors began calling the City Series.) The dial glass is convex, the dial porcelain and signed, the hands are correct. It is running and striking on a cathedral gong. No label. Nice for the price, and will fit on your desk, dresser, or any shelf. $50–$150.
