140.           $25

E.N. Welch Mfg. Co. “Trotters 2”, ca. 1893.  A 22-inch walnut or oak case with a dark finish and plenty of patina.  Small finials on the ends of the crest are missing – see the illustration in Ly, Welch Clocks, on page 477.  The door glass is original with a horse-theme decoration, including two riders in a buggy; this is one of six clocks that were part of the “Trotters Series”.  The painted dial is probably original with proper hands. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement will only run briefly and will need service; it strikes on a wire gong and there is an alarm as well.  The Welch pendulum is tarnished.  Labels once on the back are now lost.  $25–$50.
