Wm L Gilbert Clock Co. “Shelf”, ca. 1875.  This clock is shown in Ly’s supplement for Gilbert Clocks on page 31 and called “Shelf”.  Apparently, names were getting tough to come up with. The walnut case is 21.5 inches tall with a beautiful, like-new finish; the door glass is a new replacement.  The paper dial is an unsigned recent replacement as well, with proper hands.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is die-stamped for Gilbert and is running and striking on a cathedral gong with a single-barrel pendulum.  There is a Gilbert label on the back.  Another example sold in 2018 for $100.
