Russell & Jones Clock Co. “St Martin”, 1889-1893.  Brothers Hezekiah and Solomon Russell with Edward Jones took over the Terry Clock Co. in 1888 and marketed a variety of clocks, some of which are shown in Ly, American Clocks, pages 194-197.  This clock is not shown in the book and cannot be found on LiveAuctioneers; it was a special order for Oskamp, Nolting, & Co. in Cincinnati, a large downtown jeweler and department store founded in 1887 (it closed in 1979).  The refinished walnut case is 21 inches tall with modern glass in the door.  The glossy paper dial is a replacement, the hands are appropriate.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed “R & J Clock Co. Pittsfield Mass” and is running and striking on a wire gong, regulated by a patterned pendulum unique to R&JCC.  It looks like there was a beat scale before the case was refinished.  There is a jeweler’s label on the back.  A rare clock, it would appear. $50–$100.
