Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Boston”, ca. 1880.  A “City Series” clock (meaning sturdy, well-made, and reliable), 21.5 inches tall in walnut with an old finish.  The door glass is old, the dial holds the original paint with some darkening, flaking and significant losses.  It is signed with a patent date.  The hands are proper and ST issue.  The 8-day, time-and-strike lyre movement is signed and running, striking on a wire gong mounted on a ST gong base.  There is an ST pendulum bob and a black but illegible label inside on the bottom.  No date on the back. A stately model.  No recent sales on AAC or LiveAuctioneers.  $125–$250.
