89.              $50

Waterbury Clock Co. “Large Gothic V.P.”, ca. 1883.  A 19.5-inch case veneered in mahogany with a clean finish and proper finials.  The door glass is old but the image is an applied decal, with gilded trim around the glass.  The dial has been repainted with the Waterbury logo, the bezel polished, the hands correct but a slight mismatch.  The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed; it will run briefly and will strike on the wire gong with a Waterbury mount.  The pendulum is Waterbury issue.  The backboard is papered but there is no label.  Might just need a little patience to get it up and running; shown on page 403 of Ly’s book, Waterbury Clocks & Watches.  V.P. stands for Visible Pendulum.  $50–$100.
