Birge & Fuller candlestick double-steeple with 8-day wagon-spring movement, 1844–1848.  A gorgeous example of this highly desirable double steeple.  The case is 26 inches tall, veneered in mahogany with a polished finish.  The four candlesticks are beautiful.  The three glasses are period/original, with period Fenn tablets that show minimal losses, mostly in the borders.  The contoured dial has what must be the original paint and numbering with some chipping and discoloration; the hands are period and correct. The 8-day, time-and-strike wagon-spring movement is die-stamped Birge & Fuller; it is running and striking on the wire gong.  There is an excellent label inside.  AAC has sold five of these in the last five years for an average of $1924, and most recently for $2021.  $1600–$2000.
