71.              $50

Birge & Fuller “Patent Brass Eight Day Clock”, 1844-1848.  A 36-inch triple decker with a dingy finish but original dial and middle glasses, with an excellently preserved middle tablet.  The lower glass is an inappropriate etched glass replacement.  The wooden dial shows some losses (“stretch marks”) but the gilding is still good and it is reasonably clean.  The hands are correct and period but have been painted, and need to be repainted black.  The strap brass, 8-day, time-and-strike movement is unsigned and running, striking on a wire gong.  There are two period iron weights and a dark but complete label inside.  I will part this clock out if you only want, say, the movement, the weights, or the center glass.  Indicate what you want on your bid sheet (parts bids do not need to meet the minimum).  $200–$350.
