Chauncey Jerome 30-hour OG, ca. 1842.  Jerome was on his own in the early 1840’s in Bristol, CT; this clock bears a Bristol label and the movement is marked Bristol as well.  The 25.5-inch flame mahogany case has a dull but clean finish; both glasses are period, but the dial putty has been replaced.  The lower glass has a well-preserved “drapery and vase” Fenn tablet with “W B Fenn Pat. Plymouth Ct” printed in script at the bottom; I don’t believe I have ever seen that before.  The wooden dial has “Made by C Jerome Bristol CT U.S.A.” printed above the large opening, showing the brass movement that Jerome had pioneered.  The dial is reasonably clean and the numbering is strong; the hands are period-correct.  The 30-hour, time-and-strike weight-driven movement is running and striking on a wire gong with two old weights.  There is a good label inside.  An interesting example for the labeled Fenn tablet.  $100–$200.
